As India gears up for the general elections later this year, we are excited to bring to you the third cohort of our Flagship Ambassadors program! Taking learnings from our first two cohorts we bring to you a bigger and better program for girls and non binary folks across India from the ages of 14 - 20.
As we gear up for India’s next general election in 2024, we will see a record number of first-time voters, approximately half of whom will be girls and women. We released our flagship report "Talk Politics to Me" last year in which we surveyed over 600 Indian adolescents and youth (ages 14-22) and found that girls report to be less interested and engaged in politics than boys. Girls who participated in the study also felt that they had fewer opportunities to engage with politics. For a strong democracy, we need girls and women to be meaningfully engaged with our political processes. Kuviraa hopes to bridge this gap for adolescent girls by providing a safe environment to discuss politics and interact with women politicians across party lines.
Our goal is to strengthen democracy by building leadership in future and first-time voters. This is a virtual fellowship and the program will consist of workshop sessions on the weekends from March 22nd to April 14th 2024. Through these sessions we will cover:
Politics, Policy and Gender
Value based politics
Diversity in representation
Problem solving and campaign simulation exercises
QnA with expert speakers including politicians, party workers and other government officials
In addition to an increase in knowledge about democratic processes, participants from previous cohorts have stated an increase in skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, public speaking and planning.
At the end of the fellowship all participants will receive a certificate of participation and if required, a letter of recommendation from our founder.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this fellowship, you should
Identify as a woman/ girl or non-binary
Be from the ages of 14 - 20 (please note that applicants over the age of 20 will not be considered)
A resident of India
Have a strong internet connection
Available to attend online sessions and participate in group projects
Passionate about gender issues and girls in leadership

Fill out this application form which includes a video submission. Shortlisted candidates will be asked for an interview with our team.
Program costs and scholarships:
The cost of the program is INR 4,999. We offer a number of partial and full scholarships to deserving applicants and do not want the cost of the program to be a reason for you to not participate. Our goal is to have diversity in our cohort and to hear from young girls from each corner of our country. Priority will be given to applicants from tier II & tier III cities. If you need a scholarship, please indicate that in your application.
